Study Design: Descriptive Cross-Sectional study
Study place and duration: Department of Gynecology, Hilal-e-ahmer Hopsital, Faisalabad for 6 months (August 2023 till January 2024)
Methodology: After meeting selection criteria 292 females were enrolled. All females were evaluated from history and clinical examination. Gestational diabetes mellitus was assessed. Females were followed till delivery to note the main outcome variables. Frequency of shoulder dystocia was recoded and was compared in females with and without GDM. All the data was recorded in proforma.
Results: The shoulder dystocia was observed in 21.9% pregnant females. Shoulder dystocia was present in 43(57.3%) females with GDM, while in 21 (9.7%) females without GDM. This difference was statistically significant (p < 0.001).
Conclusion: It is concluded that the risk of shoulder dystocia is high and is significantly associated with GDM.
