Main Article Content
Abstract
To determine the outcome of mesh hernioplasty in patients presenting with strangulated inguinal hernias.
METHODS:
This descriptive longitudinal study was carried out at the Department of Surgery, Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Hospital, Sukkur. 105 male patients between the ages of 20–70 years diagnosed with strangulated inguinal hernia and undergoing mesh hernioplasty under spinal anesthesia were included through non-probability consecutive sampling. Patients were followed for 15 days postoperatively. Outcome measures included operative time, wound infection, seroma formation, and hematoma formation.
Duration: Six months. (July 2025 - Dec2025).
RESULTS:
Wound infection developed in 9 (9.5%) patients, seroma formation occurred in 8 (7.6%) patients, and hematoma formation was observed in 5 (4.8%) patients. The variable mean operative time (minutes) 42.6 ± 8.4.
Overall complication rates were low, demonstrating favorable outcomes following mesh hernioplasty.
CONCLUSION:
Mesh hernioplasty is considered an effective surgical option in the management of strangulated inguinal hernias
